The 2009 Baseball World Cup is an international baseball tournament scheduled to start on 7 September 2009, with the final to be held in Rome, Italy on 27 September 2009. It will be the 38th time the World Cup has taken place, and the first time that it has been hosted by a continent rather than a single country. Eight European countries will host the tournament and 22 nations will compete, including defending champions the United States.
