BIG PRESENCE FOR SOFTBALL IN DENVER
A display booth and seven-person delegation highlighted softball’s participation in last week’s annual SportAccord event, held this year in Denver, Colorado (USA). Attended by representatives from the International Olympic Committee, numerous National Olympic Committees, international sports federations, sponsors, host cities, and media, 2009 marked the seventh edition of the meetings, tradeshow, conferences, and convention-type event that spanned close to a week.

International Softball Federation President Don Porter, VP/North America Dale McMann (Canada), Deputy Secretary General Ms. Low Beng Choo (Malaysia), BackSoftball Task Force Co-Chair Donna de Varona, ISF Director of Communications Bruce Wawrzyniak, and two-time Olympic softball athletes Jessica Mendoza and Michele Smith were all on-hand, talking to delegates and highlighting the BackSoftball campaign.

The ISF also used the occasion to conduct the draw for the Easton Foundation Youth Softball World Cup (August in the Czech Republic). A press release is available in the Other Documents section of www.BackSoftball.com.

PRESENTATION MADE IN NEW ZEALAND
A presentation on softball was made this week at the Oceania National Olympic Committees General Assembly in New Zealand. ISF Deputy Secretary General Ms. Low Beng Choo and 2008 Olympic softball bronze medalist Danielle Stewart (Australia), a BackSoftball Athlete Ambassador, represented the sport to the approximately 150 delegates.

ZAMBIAN SOFTBALL OFFICIAL ELECTED
Zambia Softball Federation Secretary Chabi Chondoka has been elected to be a Board Member of the National Sports Council of Zambia, joining several other softball officials that have been reported on in recent editions of this newsletter as holding positions with their National Olympic Committee or Sports Ministry/Council.
